According to ITV News Wales, Cardiff City’s claim seeking more than £100 million in compensation following the death of Emiliano Sala was dismissed by a court in France. Second, Cardiff alleged that Nantes bore responsibility for the accident on the grounds of negligence. On the other hand, Jérôme Marsaudon, Nantes’ lawyer, argued:“The accident was a tragic event beyond the control of FC Nantes. The club fulfilled its contractual obligations, and the responsibility for the flight lies elsewhere. Cardiff must respect the transfer agreement and pay the agreed fees.”

However, courts have rejected this claim, finding insufficient evidence to hold Nantes liable for the crash. Applying legal standards for negligence, the courts looked for the existence of a duty of care, a breach of that duty, and a causal link between the breach and the harm suffered.
